Unforgiving is Ungodly and Unloving
by Natacha Cann on February 2nd, 2016

Is it fair to say that someone is being ungodly and unloving if they don’t forgive? It sounds kind of harsh, but it is entirely accurate. God takes the business of forgiving very seriously and according to His word forgiveness and love are one and the same. But, God didn’t just say it; He set the example for us to follow.
Romans 5:8 says that “God showed His love for us by Christ dying for our sins.” And Christ’s death (God’s love) makes forgiveness of our sins possible. And, no one gets to heaven without forgiveness of their sins; so yes, forgiveness is serious business! There are also many scriptures where God tells us we should specifically follow His example of “forgiving others as we have been forgiven” (Colossians 3:13 and Ephesians 4:32).
The bottom line is that being unforgiving does make us ungodly and unloving. You can’t get around it, but you can get through it by praying and asking God to open your heart and mind so that the process of forgiving others may begin.
