Write a Letter - Heal Your Soul!
Forgive the Past and Free Your Future
by Natacha Cann on January 10th, 2017

2017 is here and most of us have already made our famous (or infamous) New Year’s resolutions! It’s that time of year when we vow to make changes to improve our personal lives. We always say, “This year will be different.” Is forgiving someone on your list for personal improvement this year? If it is not, but you know that you are holding a grudge against someone, or holding on to pain, then you should consider it.
The bible instructs us to forget those things which are behind us and reach forward to those things which are ahead of us. And, isn’t this always the goal for the New Year (to move forward in a positive way)? But, how can you move forward if you refuse to reconcile the past? You just can’t.
Real change requires more than just “saying,” it also requires “doing.” The one thing you can do to guarantee that this year will be different is to make the decision to forgive someone who has hurt you. Once you decide that forgiveness is the answer to what ails you, your eyes, heart and mind will be open to accepting “freedom.”  You will be free to heal, free to love again and free to rebuild that part of your life which has been lost.
Sadly, there are many people who did not live to see this New Year. If you were blessed to make it to 2017, please realize that 2016 is in the past, so don’t spend another moment living there. Forgive the past so that you may free your future.
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.”
Isaiah 43:18
 “Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended;
but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind
and reaching forward to those things which are ahead.”
Philippians 3:13
